“…God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” – 1 Corinthians 1:27 (KJV)
In life, situations often arise that turn our focus away from God. Chaos sometimes surrounds us, and we begin to question: “What must I do? Where is the God I serve? Can He see what’s happening to me?” But in those very moments, God is saying, “I am right here.” He calls us to calm down, refocus, and seek Him, for His Word promises, “..seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you…he that seeketh findeth…” (Matthew 7:7-8 – KJV).
In Acts 8:26-39, God used Philip as a man without a title simply because he obeyed His voice. Philip’s obedience led him to preach to and baptise the Ethiopian eunuch, who was hungry for knowledge of the Holy Spirit. This reminds us that God can use anyone, man or woman, young or old, if you are willing to listen and obey His voice.
Joshua 3:5 (KJV) says, ‘And Joshua said unto the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” God reminds us that He is the Creator, capable of doing anything when we obey His commands. Saul once considered himself unlikely to become king of Israel; he was from the smallest tribe and clan in all of Israel (1st Samuel 9:21), but was chosen by God. David, the ordinary shepherd boy who became king (1st Samuel 16:1-13), was also selected from among his ‘fairer’ brothers. None was chosen until David was called from tending the sheep. God selects the least and humble, and not the exalted, to accomplish His divine will.
Testimony
I have personally experienced how God can take an ordinary person and use them mightily for His glory. The first time I was asked to share during an open-air evangelistic service, I cried for days. But when I finally surrendered, God spoke to me and gave me Scriptures about repentance, words that even surprised me. That moment taught me a powerful truth: all God needs is our willingness. When we make ourselves available, He equips us with everything we need. Even now, I still marvel at how He works through me. Truly, our God is the Master Builder. Hallelujah!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to look to You and allow You to use us according to Your will. Teach us not to depend on man but to trust wholly in You, our source of strength, confidence, wisdom, peace, and love. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Your Word declares that we should trust You with all our hearts. Thank You, Lord, for Your assurance in no other name but the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
